Is is possible to have an open air lightener that checks all the right boxes?

Top performing balayage lightener with maximum lift for hair color.
Balayage test I never lose.

How many times has a guest sat in your chair showed you a picture and said I want balayage? Although that term is thrown around loosely it is an extremely popular subtle look that has been the forefront trend for quite a while.

If you are like me you have tried dozens of open air lighteners trying to find the right one that will lift past three levels and not dry out. Or maybe you are just starting the search to find the best lightener and don’t wanna mess with the trial and errors. If that is the case I have a solution for you.

Open air lighteners are typically clay-based, designed to dry from the outside in. Not only is it extremely messy once it dries but that also means the lift is over. Depending on your saturation the most levels of lift you will typically get is 3 to 4 levels. What if I told you I found a lightener that will give you anywhere from 5 to 7 levels of lift, all while still having the control and the technology not to transfer on other hair that would cause bleeding and spotting.

I have been using paint exclusively for the past four years for all of my open air applications. This revolutionary lightener is silica-based vs. clay based like all the others on the market.

How is silica so different? Silica-based lightener is going to encapsulate the hair, creating an outer shell to protect other hair from transferring or bleeding. The unique thing about Paint is that it is not going to dry all the way through, it will stay damp on the inside allowing it to lift up to 50 minutes, giving you 5-7 levels of lift with proper saturation.

The picture shown here is a comparison of three different open air balayage lighteners. You can see two are clay-based and one is silica-based. All three swatches were applied by the same person, same saturation, same starting level swatch, and all mixed to manufactures instructions with 30 volume. All lighteners were left on for an hour and a half.
